MLA Director & chair of environment committee

Deborah is a retired environmental professional with 40 years of experience in environmental consulting and senior positions with two GTA Conservation Authorities.

Deborah was motivated to share her environmental expertise in Muskoka, an area where the environment is the economy.  She became a director of the MLA in 2015, served as President from 2020-2022 and is currently Chair of the Environment Committee.

The year she was born, Deb’s dad purchased a small lot on Breezy Point, Lake Muskoka, providing an escape from Toronto.  It was here she began her interest in nature.  In fact, her first environmental job was cruising the lakes carrying out septic inspections.  She went on to take a Bachelors and Masters of Environmental Studies and received an honorary PhD in Science specializing in freshwater ecosystems. Today two more generations enjoy the cottage and are learning about nature.
