The Annual MLA Regatta, the oldest continuously run co-ed regatta in North America, maintains a tradition of family, fun, and aquatic competition on the Saturday of the Civic Holiday weekend.

Despite years with steady or occasional downpours, the regatta always has a great turn out. The regatta is a wonderful way for families to participate together in rowing, paddling and swimming events.

The regatta wouldn’t be possible without the generous hospitality of the Muskoka Lakes Golf & Country Club on Lake Rosseau, the generous sponsors, and the many volunteers. Thanks to the assistance of all of the staff at the club, and the use of the wonderful facilities.

Last, but certainly not least, thank you to the many individuals who donate time to plan, lend a hand on the day, and donate materials to make the day a huge success.

  • Tilting is estimated to start at 3pm. We suggest arriving at 2pm to ensure you are registered and ready to go.
  • REMINDER: the MLA has 2 canoes that they lend out for races during the morning if you don’t own a canoe.
  • Coming by car, follow directions to the Muskoka Lakes Golf and Country Club (MLGCC) and park in the upper parking lot: See Directions here
  • Coming by boat: the MLGCC blocks off a certain number of boat parking spots for MLA Regatta participants on their docks. Please follow directions to those spots. If there isn’t a spot available, rafting off others boats is strongly encouraged. Rafting is a great way to meet other MLA members who can assist you in all things Regatta related. For the purposes of rafting, we encourage you to bring extra bumpers/lifejackets for your boats protection.
  • REMINDER: MLA staff will be dressed in green T shirts for easy identification.
  • Once you have parked, head over to the boat house to register yourself and family for the day. All participants require a wrist band to indicate they have registered for the day. MLA staff will be there to assist you in the process.
  • If you brought a boat, this is also the time to pick up your boat numbers. MLA members will be in the boat Pitt to assist you with this process. Boats will have numbers placed on the right side of the bow, left side of the stern. Paddleboard participants will have an arm and leg marking provided.
  • At 9:30am we will play O Canada over the PA and start the day. Each event will be announced over the PA so you won’t miss a race. MLA staff will be on the docks assisting you with getting boats ready and informing the race starter if a boat is delayed to the start line.
  • Swimming and tilting events will be preceded by a full explanation of rules and guidelines

End of Day:

  • All race results will be posted on a whiteboard at the boathouse. If you or your child has won 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, YOU EARN A MEDAL!! Medals will be available for pick up at the boathouse.
  • The trophy presentation will commence after the swimming races are completed.

Food and Beverage:

  • The MLGCC kindly provides a great selection of sandwiches, grill items and beverages in their snack shack for Regatta participants
  • The MLGCC will also be providing a selection of alcoholic beverages on their patio in the afternoon. Please be advised you may only consume these alcoholic beverages in the designated areas, and please drink responsibly.
  • REMINDER: the MLGCC will only take cash

BIGGEST REMINDER: Have an awesome and fun day!!! If you have any questions or concerns, MLA staff members or volunteers will be happy to assist you. They will be identifiable in green t-shirts with the MLA logo.
