Cathie Mostowyk is retired from IBM Canada, where she worked for more than 30 years as a sales and partnerships manager. She is also the founder and past President of Shoestring Shopping Guide Inc., a web destination for value shopping in the GTA. Cathie sold the business in 2017.
Cathie has volunteered with the Muskoka Lakes Association since 2016, and is currently on the Membership and Communications committee, as well as the Community Engagment committee. Cathie became a Director in 2023. She also does volunteer work for the Lake Joseph North Association.
Cathie and her husband Morris bought the land that would become their Lake Joseph cottage in 1979, camping until building the cottage in 1987. In 2014, after decades of raising children and hosting family and friends at the cottage, Cathie and Morris moved full-time to Muskoka. Protecting Muskoka for future generations is important to Cathie, and as a resident she knows the unique challenges of balancing resident and cottager priorities.
When not hosting friends from the bay or welcoming her daughters to the cottage, Cathie can be found travelling, gardening, hiking and enjoying all that Muskoka offers.
